Activate SSM4U at a Tap.It kiosk.
To activate (verify) an SSM4U account, first register on ssm4u.com.my. A local user with a MyKAD, MyPR, MyKAS or MyTentera card can then verify it at an SSM counter or at a Tap.It kiosk listed with SSM services: select SSM, then SSM4U Activation, insert the card and scan your thumbprint. At a Tap.It kiosk, Safeguards KioskMedia does this at no charge. Foreigner National ID users activate online.
What is SSM4U?
SSM4U is SSM's “one stop website where all SSM systems are accessible at once, with just a single-sign-on for each SSM system user”.
SSM, the Companies Commission of Malaysia, says SSM4U is open 24 hours, seven days a week, and is the landing page for SSM systems including EzBiz, MyCoID, MBRS, MyLLP, XCESS and DCTC. “All SSM customers are required to register as SSM4U users”, and each profile is either a General user or a Verified user (SSM4U, About).
SSM4U is SSM's own service. Its SSM4U user manual says local users “may verify their accounts ... a) By visiting the nearest SSM counter in person; or b) Via the Tap.it Kiosk”. Tap.It is the self-service kiosk network run by Safeguards KioskMedia (M) Sdn. Bhd.; for business renewal, SSM has appointed it as business renewal agent via Kiosk Tap.It.
What does activation unlock, and what can you do next?
SSM's SSM4U user manual says “Unverified users can only access non-core services”. Verified users also reach SSM's core services, “Ezbiz, MyLLP, e-BOS, MBRS, i-Fast & others”. For EzBiz, SSM's knowledge hub says: “The activation of the Ezbiz Online user account can be carried out at SSM counters as well as at Kiosk Tap.It” (KB 10161).
EzBiz is where an owner renews a business registration online, through “Renewal by Owner”, and SSM says renewal through EzBiz Online is auto approved; a business can also be renewed at a Tap.It kiosk, as renewing a business at a Tap.It kiosk explains.

What do you need before you go?
An SSM4U account must exist before it can be activated. SSM's SSM4U user manual starts on ssm4u.com.my with four registration steps; foreigners register with a Foreigner National ID. Then take your MyKAD (MyKad), MyPR, MyKAS or MyTentera card to the kiosk, since the kiosk steps ask you to insert it and scan your thumbprint, and keep the email and password you set for the first log-in afterwards.

What do people ask about SSM4U activation at a kiosk?
Does SSM4U activation at a Tap.It kiosk cost anything?
No. Safeguards KioskMedia offers SSM4U activation at its Tap.It kiosks as corporate social responsibility (CSR), so it costs neither the user nor SSM anything. Its RM3 kiosk service fee applies to business renewals and compound payments, not to SSM4U activation.
Can a foreigner activate SSM4U at a Tap.It kiosk?
No. SSM's SSM4U user manual says Foreigner National ID users “are required to activate their SSM4U account via online”, with supporting documents, and SSM will process the application within three working days. The kiosk and the SSM counter are for local users with a MyKAD, MyPR, MyKAS or MyTentera card.
Can a MyKAD holder activate SSM4U online instead?
Yes. SSM's knowledge hub (KB 10220) lists two routes: “Counter (Using MyKad Reader)”, or online, by uploading the MyKAD, a selfie and supporting documents, which SSM processes within three working days. SSM's user manual names the SSM counter and the Tap.It kiosk as the in-person routes for local users.
Do you activate an EzBiz Online account more than once?
No. SSM's knowledge hub says “Activation only needs to be done once.” EzBiz Online activation is open to Malaysian citizens or permanent residents aged 18 and above.
