What is SAFEDATA-SSM?
SAFEDATA-SSM is a service portal developed by Safeguards KioskMedia (M) Sdn. Bhd. for the public to buy SSM documents electronically, at safedata-ssm.com. Its About Us page says: “We have been appointed by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) - Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) as its Technology and Service Provider for the SAFEDATA-SSM Services.” The portal's FAQ says its documents are sourced directly from SSM. Sign-up is free and the portal is open 24 hours, 7 days. Safeguards KioskMedia also runs the Tap.It self-service kiosk network.
Where does SAFEDATA-SSM's information come from?
SAFEDATA-SSM's documents come from SSM, the Companies Commission of Malaysia: the portal's FAQ says they are sourced directly from SSM. SSM describes the portal of an appointed service provider as one that delivers “company and business information or products for customers online”, and says the fee for each product is based on the fee under schedule (Regulation 8), Companies Regulations 2017. SAFEDATA-SSM gives access to SSM's records; it does not rate companies or give advice, so what a record means for a deal is for the reader to judge.
What documents can I buy on SAFEDATA-SSM?
SAFEDATA-SSM's FAQ lists company and business profiles, documents and forms images, company and business certificates, company particulars, and company financial history and comparison. Its featured searches are Business Profile, Company Profile, Company Listing, CSID (Company Secretary Information Data) and Personal Involvement, and its document tabs cover businesses, companies, audit firms, LLP documents, company listings, CSID and personal involvement. The main documents each have their own page on this site, with what they show and their listed prices.
How much is an SSM Company Profile?
On SAFEDATA-SSM a Company Profile costs RM13.24, or RM23.24 as a certified true copy (CTC). Each listed price is SSM's own fee plus RM3.24, the service fee with its SST: SSM's fee is RM10 for the Company Profile and RM20 for its digital certified true copy. SSM describes the Company Profile as “a current report that contains basic information of a company”, with its share capital, directors/officers, shareholders, charges (if any) and financial information.

What is the RM3.00 service fee?
SAFEDATA-SSM's FAQ says an additional RM3.00 service fee with 8% SST is charged on top of the fees imposed by SSM. With the tax that is RM3.24, and every price SAFEDATA-SSM lists already includes it. SSM's own product page says the same from its side: “The fee rates do not include the service charge and service tax. A service tax of 8% will be imposed on the service charge.”
- Service fee

- Added to SSM’s fee

How much is an SSM Business Profile?
SSM's own fee for a Business Profile is RM10, or RM15 for the digital certified true copy. Bought on SAFEDATA-SSM, the service fee and its SST come on top of SSM's fee, as for every SAFEDATA-SSM document. A Business Profile is SSM's report on a business registered under ROB, not on a company. SSM describes it as “a report which contains the latest information of a business”, from its name, registration number and expiry date to its branches, with information on its current and previous owner.
- SSM’s fee
- RM10
- Digital CTC
- RM15
- On SAFEDATA-SSM
- + RM3.24
What is the difference between CTC and non-CTC?
CTC stands for certified true copy; SSM's digital CTCs are certified by POS Digicert Sdn Bhd. A non-CTC copy is the plain, uncertified copy of the same SSM record. On SAFEDATA-SSM the CTC costs more because SSM's own fee for it is higher, while the RM3.24 stays the same: a Company Profile is RM13.24 as a non-CTC copy and RM23.24 as a CTC, and certificates and particulars are RM23.24 and RM33.24.
Should I buy a Company Profile or a Business Profile?
Which profile you need depends on how the firm is registered with SSM. ROC covers companies, the Sdn Bhd and Berhad kind, and a company's report is the Company Profile. ROB, the Registration of Businesses, covers businesses and enterprises, usually the smaller, owner-run kind, and a business's report is the Business Profile. So a name ending in Sdn Bhd or Berhad points to the Company Profile, RM13.24 on SAFEDATA-SSM, and a registered business or enterprise points to the Business Profile, at SSM's fee of RM10 plus the service fee and its SST.
What is a Personal Involvement search?
Personal Involvement lets you buy information on what a person owns as a shareholder or director, looked up by their MyKad number. It is one of SAFEDATA-SSM's featured searches, with Business Profile, Company Profile, Company Listing and CSID, and it is bought on safedata-ssm.com. What you buy is information from SSM's records about that person's shareholdings and directorships.
How do I get a Malaysian company's financial information?
SAFEDATA-SSM sells SSM's documents built on a company's audited financial statements. SSM's Financial Comparison is “a comparative information on the audited financial statements of a company”, for 2, 3, 5 or 10 years: RM23.24, RM33.24, RM53.24 or RM103.24 on SAFEDATA-SSM. The Financial Historical Comparison compares 2 years based on the year you select, at RM23.24, or RM33.24 as a CTC. SSM's sample shows key financial information such as the auditor, the financial year end, balance sheet items, revenue and profit or loss before and after tax. The Company Profile carries financial information too.

What is an Attestation of Company Good Standing?
An Attestation of Company Good Standing (ACGS) is, in SSM's words, “a document issued by SSM to confirm the existence of a company and that it has met the statutory requirements by the Companies Act 2016 (Act 777)”. SSM's criteria include being incorporated for at least 18 months, having the latest Annual Return and Audited Financial Statements lodged, an “existing” status, and no outstanding compound with SSM for the company or its directors. A recipient can scan the QR code on the print-out to view the stored copy. On SAFEDATA-SSM it is RM103.24, SSM's RM100 fee plus RM3.24, and it can be downloaded for 7 days from purchase.

Tap.It kiosks listed with SSM services offer SSM compound payment, at the compound amount plus Safeguards KioskMedia's RM3 service fee, subject to approved service terms.
