An SSM Company Profile covers a company registered under ROC (Registration of Company), such as a Sdn Bhd or Berhad. A Business Profile covers a business registered under ROB (Registration of Businesses): a sole proprietorship or partnership. On SAFEDATA-SSM the Company Profile costs RM13.24, or RM23.24 as a certified true copy (CTC). The Business Profile costs SSM’s fee of RM10, or RM15 for the digital CTC, plus RM3.24 of service fee and SST.

How do a Company Profile and a Business Profile differ?
Which profile a firm has depends on how it is registered with SSM: a company registered under ROC (companies such as Sdn Bhd and Berhad) has a Company Profile, and a business registered under ROB has a Business Profile.
SSM’s Company Profile and Business Profile differ in four ways: the register (ROC or ROB), who is on it, what SSM says each reports, and the price.

How many companies and businesses are on SSM’s record?
On 16 Oct 2026, SAFEDATA-SSM’s live counter showed far more businesses than companies on SSM’s record: 9,232,049 businesses registered with SSM against 1,551,586 companies. Of the businesses, 7,736,505 were sole proprietorships and 1,495,544 partnerships; of the companies, 1,546,581 were local and 5,005 foreign.
Which profile do you need?
Start from the firm’s name and form. Sdn Bhd or Berhad: a company, registered under ROC, so you need its Company Profile. A sole proprietorship or partnership: a business, registered under ROB, so you need its Business Profile. An LLP (limited liability partnership) is neither, and SAFEDATA-SSM keeps LLP documents under their own tab.

How do the two prices compare?
Each SAFEDATA-SSM price is SSM’s own fee plus SAFEDATA-SSM’s RM3.00 service fee with 8% SST on it, RM3.24 in all. The Company Profile is listed at RM13.24, or RM23.24 as a CTC, on SSM’s fees of RM10 and RM20. For the Business Profile, SSM’s fee is RM10, or RM15 for the digital CTC, with the same RM3.24 on top.

What does each profile show?
SSM defines both documents on its own product pages, and the two definitions show how their contents differ. A Company Profile reports the company’s share capital, its directors and officers, its shareholders, any charges and financial information. A Business Profile reports the business’s registration and expiry dates, its form, status, address, type and any branches, and its current and previous owner.

Do both profiles come as a CTC?
Yes. SSM sets a fee for a digital certified true copy (CTC) of each profile, so on SAFEDATA-SSM the CTC of either profile costs more only by SSM’s extra fee; both copies are copies of the same SSM record, sourced directly from SSM.

Does a Business Profile show when a registration expires?
Yes. SSM’s list of what a Business Profile contains includes the registration date and the registration expiry date, and a business registered under ROB renews its registration. SSM’s ROB fees are RM60 a year for a trade name and RM30 a year for a personal name, plus RM5 a year per branch, and a business can renew for 1 to 5 years at a time.
