What does an SSM Company Profile show?
An SSM Company Profile is SSM’s current report on a company registered under ROC, such as a Sdn Bhd or a Berhad.
SSM, the Companies Commission of Malaysia, defines what the report contains, and its definition is quoted here. In short, the profile gives the company’s name and number, incorporation date, type and status, its registered and business addresses and the nature of its business, then its share capital, its directors and officers, its shareholders, any charges, and financial information.
SAFEDATA-SSM is run by Safeguards KioskMedia (M) Sdn. Bhd., appointed by SSM as its Technology and Service Provider. The Company Profile you buy there is sourced directly from SSM: it gives access to SSM’s record of the company, not an analysis or a rating of it.
How much does a Company Profile cost on SAFEDATA-SSM?
An SSM Company Profile costs RM13.24 on SAFEDATA-SSM as a plain (non-CTC) copy, or RM23.24 as a certified true copy (CTC). Each listed price has two parts. SSM sets its own fee: RM10 for the Company Profile, or RM20 for the digital certified true copy. SAFEDATA-SSM adds its RM3.00 service fee, and 8% SST is charged on that fee, which makes RM3.24.
That RM3.24 is the same on both copies, so the RM10 between the two prices is SSM’s own fee.

Do you need the CTC or the non-CTC copy?
A CTC is a certified true copy. SSM’s digital certified true copies are certified by POS Digicert Sdn Bhd. A non-CTC copy is the plain copy of the same record, also sourced directly from SSM.
If you only want to read the record for yourself, the non-CTC copy shows it. If a bank, agency or business has asked you for the document, ask them whether they need a certified copy before you buy, and buy the CTC if they do. The CTC costs RM10 more because SSM’s own fee for it is RM20 rather than RM10.

Does a Company Profile show past directors?
SSM describes the Company Profile as a current report, so for history look to SSM’s Particulars of Directors/Officers. In SSM’s words it gives “the company's current director's / officer's information and previous information of the company's directors / officers for the last 15 years”, and SAFEDATA-SSM lists it at RM23.24, or RM33.24 as a CTC.
Two more documents on the same company go further in other directions. The Attestation of Company Good Standing is, in SSM’s words, “a document issued by SSM to confirm the existence of a company and that it has met the statutory requirements by the Companies Act 2016 (Act 777)”. The Financial Comparison is “A comparative information on the audited financial statements of a company.” Comparisons can be made for 2, 3, 5 or 10 years.

Is it a Company Profile or a Business Profile you need?
It depends on how the firm is registered with SSM. A company, such as a Sdn Bhd or a Berhad, is registered under ROC and has a Company Profile. A business or enterprise, the smaller mom-and-pop type, is registered under ROB and has a Business Profile. If the name you are checking ends in Sdn Bhd or Berhad, it is the Company Profile you want.

What if the profile shows wrong information?
The Company Profile shows what SSM holds. If a detail in a profile you bought is wrong, call SAFEDATA-SSM customer service on 010-207 9384 or use the Contact Us form; documentary proof may be needed. The agent escalates the case to SSM, and customer service resupplies the amended document, which you can download within 7 days of the resupply.
